Founder and contributor
WHITE UMBRELLA TOURS is a Bhutan state-licensed tour operator headquartered in Thimphu and was founded in 2012 by Tashi Wangdi as a family business. Tashi was born and grew up in Bhutan. He studied Buddhist philosophy in India and is currently writing his doctoral thesis at the University of Hamburg, where he now lives together with his wife Natalia and three small daughters.
Natalia Wangdi is a designated tourism expert. She had been running successful travel company for over one decade, traveling for example to China, India, Mongolia and Nepal.
Now they have combined their skills and can offer unforgettable, impressive and well-organized trips to the small, hidden Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan.
In 2017, White Umbrella opened a branch office in Germany in cooperation with Adelina Kurr Otero. Adelina studied Tibetology at the University of Hamburg and spent a lot of time in the Himalayan region. She shares Natalia and Tashi's love for Bhutan and, in addition to organizing trips, also runs some of the tours to the land of the dragon.
Karma Yonten is our direct connection to Bhutan. He has been working for White Umbrella for several years as a specialist booking and travel organizer.

Meaning of the name
The name White Umbrella was given to the travel agency after the Tibetan protector Dukkar. She has thousand arms, thousand legs and thousand heads and helps all travelers.
Dukkar - is a manifestation of the Bodhisattva White Tara, the translation of its name has the meaning "White Umbrella".
We believe that all our guests are under the protection of Dukkar.
